After dropping their first points of the Ligue 1 season against Monaco over the weekend, PSG look to get back on track with a trip south to visit newly-promoted Toulouse. Champions League play begins next week, and being in top form will be necessary to avoid a slip in the group stage.

Toulouse vs PSG Live

A 70th-minute penalty by Neymar provided the only attacking output for PSG, cancelling out Kevin Volland’s first-half opener for Monaco. PSG piled on the pressure, ripping off 18 shots, but could not find the back of the net from open play despite collecting 2.40 xG (expected goals).

PSG will now look to take out their frustration on Toulouse, a newly-promoted club that the Parisians have consistently brushed aside over the years, to the tune of 22 wins in their last 25 meetings across all competitions.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier has a complete first-team squad nearly entirely free of injuries, allowing him to deploy a consistent starting lineup that includes a healthy attacking trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi.

The Sporting News will be following the Toulouse-PSG match live and providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they happen.

Toulouse vs. PSG live updates, highlights, commentary

46th min: The second half is now under way as PSG look to continue their assault that concluded the opening 45 minutes.

Toulouse have been forced into a change at the break, with Nicolaisen coming off and Logan Costa in his place. The only explanation for that change is an injury, as the new Toulouse defender was excellent through the first half.

HALFTIME: Toulouse 0-1 PSG

It’s an utter onslaught from PSG, but for the most part, the hosts weathered the storm. Toulouse had moments going forward too, but it does feel like the floodgates will open eventually.

45th min: Chance, PSG! As halftime nears, the PSG pressure on their newly-promoted opponents continues to build. Neymar shoots from an angle on the left, but it’s low and right at Dupe.

37th min: Chance, PSG! Neymar has the ball in the back of the net, but it’s ruled out as the flag goes up! VAR will certainly have a look at this, because the replay shows the Brazilian looks very onside. The delivery is a vertical ball from Messi that cuts right through the heart of the Toulouse defensive line.

On review…it’s given! GOAL, PSG! The delivery is a brilliant one from Messi, as you’d expect, with just one touch after receiving from Verratti. It’s the seventh goal already for Neymar on the Ligue 1 season.

Watch in the USA:

34th min: Nicholaisen continues his battle with Mbappe, winning a foul in the penalty area as Mbappe tries to go around him. It’s a questionable one, and probably could have been given as a penalty, with both players battling for the ball. Toulouse aren’t backing down, and remain level.

26th min: PSG continue to pour on the pressure, and Mbappe goes down in the penalty area under a challenge from Rasmus Nicolaisen. The referee waves it away, and the Toulouse defender seems to come away with the worst of the tackle.

He’s eventually up and ready to continue, but VAR is having a look at the tackle. It’s a very long look, but eventually no recommendation is given to the official and play continues.

17th min: Chance, PSG! Lionel Messi shoots with his left, and it skids just wide! Messi is screaming for a corner, and replay shows the shot did clip Diarra on the way by, but it’s given as a goal kick. Toulouse have so far weathered the storm.

9th min: Chance, Toulouse & PSG! It’s another save from Donnarumma! Dallinga shoots again, this time from a tight angle on the opposite side. What a chance!

Down the other end, an immediate response from PSG, but Messi drags his shot just wide! Then, off the restart, Mbappe tries an audacious outside-foot effort from close range, but Maxime Dupe makes a great reflex save! What a wild start to this match!

5th min: Toulouse are showing intent! Gianluigi Donnarumma keeps out a tight-angle effort on the right from Thijs Dallinga as the hosts venture forward for the first time.

2nd min: Chance, PSG! There are early signs of a PSG onslaught, and it’s a miracle there’s no opening goal inside two minutes. Mbappe enters the penalty area under pressure, and while he can’t find the back of the net, the ball comes to Messi. The Argentine star also sees his effort blocked by the numerous Toulouse defenders scrambling to keep out the opener.

1st min: The match is under way from southern France! It’s a David vs. Golaith matchup in Ligue 1.

Pre-Match: Toulouse vs. PSG (kickoff 7:30pm local CEST)

4 mins to kick: PSG were held for the first time this season after a 1-1 draw against AS Monaco last time out. That same Monaco side just went and lost to Troyes. Ligue 1 is in for a wild ride this year, and Monaco are at the heart of that chaos.

8 mins to kick: Toulouse are up against some brutal streaks today. Not only have they failed to win any of their last 10 home games in the French top flight, they’ve only won once in their last 20 games against PSG. A tall task!

27 mins to kick: With transfer speculation rife and PSG offloading names in bulk, Director of Football Luis Campos tells the media that he’s still waiting on just one name to add to the roster before their incoming business is complete. Feel free to speculate who that might be.

45 mins to kick: The PSG lineup is finally out, and it’s mostly as expected for PSG. There are two wrinkles; Nordi Mukiele starts in place of Presnel Kimpembe at center-back, while Achraf Hakimi is rested, with Danilo starting in his place. That could signal a formational change to a traditional four-back system, with Mukiele at full-back and Danilo in midfield alongside regular starters Vitinha and Marco Verratti.

24-year-old Mukiele joined this summer from RB Leipzig and gets his first start after four appearances off the bench.

60 mins to kick: Still waiting on the PSG lineup, but Toulouse have their starters out. Captain Brecht Dejaegere drops to the bench, leaving van den Boomen to wear the armband. He’s replaced by left-back Oliver Zanden, meaning Toulouse are going with five defenders.
